The USA and Finland played a fast-paced game at the end of the third day of the tournament and almost completely threw off their defensive shackles.
The spectators saw six goals in the first period alone, with the USA leading 4:2 and even extending the lead to 5:2 in the 20th minute. However, Finland refused to be shaken off and came back to 5:4 in the course of the final period. In the middle of this good phase for the Finns, Drew Albright gave the USA some breathing space again by making it 6:4 in the 37th minute and when captain Ruiz extended the lead in the 41st minute, the game was decided.
